Despite waist-deep flooding and requests to postpone, a couple in the Philippines braved monsoon rains to exchange vows.
WASHINGTON — A couple in the Philippines didn't let flooding rain stop them from celebrating their wedding day.
Despite St. John the Baptist Parish officials asking Gilbert Chico and Liean Liza Chico to postpone, they decided to go ahead with their ceremony in a flooded church on Sept. 1.
They both trudged through waist-deep water to reach the altar.
To prepare for the unusual conditions, the bride even had her gown altered and shortened so it wouldn't get stuck on anything, according to CNN.
The couple's family and friends also withstood the heavy monsoon rains to help make the most of Mr. and Mrs. Chico's special day.
