What is the 'Cat in the Hat' trend? Sleepy Eye police dismiss concerns after possible school threat

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. — The Sleepy Eye Police Department confirmed Wednesday there is no threat to local schools after investigating concerns about a social media post. 

One student was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly posting on social media about Sleepy Eye Public School and St. Mary's School. 

The Sleepy Eye Police Department explained the student posted pictures of the schools alongside the Cat in the Hat character. Officers stated that posting AI-generated pictures of the Cat in the Hat is a nationwide trend that can be used to create fear or threats.
