A Rochester daycare worker is facing a child punishment charge after video shows her hitting a 2-year-old while on the job.
According to a criminal complaint, 54-year-old Connie Keller has been charged with malicious punishment of a child after she allegedly hit the child in the mouth.
The charges stem from May 18 at a daycare on Villa Road Northwest in Rochester. According to court documents, Rochester police were called at about 8:40 p.m. after the child’s mother reported the daycare director told her an employee had mistreated her son and that video captured it.
The daycare director reviewed the video and saw Keller cross the room and hit the child in the face with the back of her right hand.
“I didn’t hit him hard, I was just trying to get him to stop screaming,” Keller said to police after the incident. Police say that no injuries were found.
