What started as a shots fired call early Friday morning in St. Paul ended with the recovery of a stolen statue of Olympian Suni Lee.
St. Paul police say officers went to a home near Forest Street and Sims Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. after callers reported gunshots. There, officers found spent rifle casings.
SPPD says officers made several announcements, prompting multiple people to come outside. Officers then did a “protective sweep” of the home.
Not only did officers find multiple guns and ammunition inside the home, but they also recovered the bronze statue of Lee that had been stolen from Phalen Regional Park — roughly 2 miles away from the residence —
