SEATTLE — The Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Amazon, accusing the company of secretly manipulating digital advertising auctions and overcharging about 1.2 million customers by more than $20 billion.
The 181-page complaint, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, was brought by the FTC, Washington and 21 other states. It accuses the Seattle-based company of violating federal and state consumer protection laws.
The FTC and participating states are asking the court for monetary relief and a permanent injunction intended to prevent future violations.<...
